CEO’s March 2010 visit to the Nordic countries

World Campus International, Inc. CEO, Hiro Nishimura visited Copenhagen University, Copenhagen Business School and Roskilde University in Denmark from March 1 to March 3, 2010. He continued to Finland to visit Itäkeskuksen Lukio, Helsingin Kuvataidelukio and Helsingin Yhtenäiskoulu in Helsinki from March 4 to March 6, 2010.

World Campus – Japan Program presentation in Liechtenstein!

On December 9^th, with the CEO of WCI, Hiro Nishimura’s visit, World Campus – Japan alumni, Rachel Anderegg (Spring ’09) and Philip Hetjens (Spring ’09) spoke their program experience to the fellow students at the Hochschule Liechtenstein in Vaduz. This presentation was organized by the Study Abroad Advisor, Mirjana Matic-Schadler in the International Office of the university. Over ten motivated students participated in this event. We hope to see many of them participating in the Summer 2010 program.

On December 8^th, Three of the WCI alumni in Zurich area, Cyrill Gross (Spring ’08,) Yannick Farrell (Spring ’08) and Catherine Thuerig (Summer ’08) joined in the program presentation facilitated by Hiro Nishimura, CEO of WCI, and spoke their World Campus – Japan Program experience and the value of the program at HWZ University of Applied Sciences Zurich.

World Campus International CEO visits University of Gent in Belgium

WCI CEO, Hiro Nishimura visited one of the partner universities, the University of Gent in Belgium on December 4^th. He was welcomed by Professor dr. Andreas Niehaus of the Department of Japanese Language and Culture and discussed about the future possibilities and enhancement of the partnership.

After the meeting, he and one of the WC-J alumni, Jotter Verhaeghe (Spring ’08) met with the university students who are interested in the summer 2010 program. Many of the students showed their interests to apply for the program after his presentation. We look forward to seeing them in Japan next summer.

Also, there was a WC-J Belgian mini-reunion with the alumni from the University of Gent, Jotter Verhaeghe, Marlies Holvoet (Summer ’07) and Kim Merckaert (Summer ’07.)

World Campus – Japan Presentation in the Hanseatic City of Rostock / Germany in January 2010

We are proud to announce a World Campus – Japan presentation in the Hanseatic City of Rostock / Germany. Please read the details in the German press release:

Junge Menschen ab 17 Jahren haben auch dieses Jahr wieder die Möglichkeit mit World Campus International (worldcampus.org) nach Japan zu reisen.

In jedem Programm werden mindestens zwei der folgenden Städte besucht: Abiko City (Präfektur Chiba), Arao City (Kumamoto), Hiroshima City (Hiroshima), Kumamoto City (Kumamoto), Mito City (Ibaraki), Omura City (Nagasaki), Tama City (Tokyo), Toride City (Ibaraki), Toyota City (Aichi), Uda City (Nara) und Ueda City (Nagano).

Die Unterbringung erfolgt in Gastfamilien. Die Teilnehmer entdecken Japan auf eine besondere, einzigartige Art und Weise. Sie lernen auf Community Service basierenden Studienplänen mehr über Japan und die Welt kennen. So treffen sie beispielsweise in den Städten Nagasaki und Hiroshima auf Überlebende der Atombombenangriffe, besichtigen in Uda einen buddhistischen Tempel und sehen einen Schwertmacher beim Schwertschmieden zu oder informieren sich in Kumamoto über Japans erste und einzigste Babyklappe „Storks Cradle“. Kontakte zu japanischen Schülern und Studenten, Arbeitern, Geschäftsleuten, Wissenschaftlern und Politikern werden geknüpft. In gemeinsamen Diskussionsrunden, Podiumsgesprächen, Sport- und Freizeitaktivitäten erfahren die Teilnehmer mehr über die Kulturen und Belange der Mitreisenden aus aller Welt und ihrer japanischen Gastgeber. Basis für die Verständigung untereinander ist Konversationsenglisch.

Für den Sommer 2010 sind fünf Programme zu folgenden Daten geplant: 5. Juni bis 19. Juni, 23. Juni bis 7. Juli, 11. Juli bis 25. Juli, 29. Juli bis 12. August und 16. August bis 30. August.

Eine Informationsveranstaltung findet am Donnerstag, dem 28.01.2010 um 16:00 Uhr im Café „Ku 77“ im Rostocker Freizeitzentrum e.V., Kuphalstaße 77, 18069 Rostock statt.

World Campus International presents the 2010 program to the students in The University of Leiden

On December 2^nd, 2009, World Campus – Japan program alumnus, Ashwin Ramjiawan presented the program to his fellow students at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. He explained his real program experience and the benefits and value of the program to the university students. Over 20 Leiden students attended the presentation and showed their interests to participate in the 2010 program.

On November 30^th, 2009, The CEO of World Campus International, Inc., Hiro Nishimura, visited the Up with People cast in Varberg, Sweden. He spoke to the cast for one hour, explaining his connection to Up with People and presenting the World Campus – Japan Program. The cast received him with a warm welcome, and quite a few members showed their interests in the World Campus – Japan Program.

On November 25^th, 2009, the two World Campus – Japan Program alumni, Shohruhbek Ibragimor from Uzbekistan and Than Than Htwe from Myanmar joined in the program presentation at their school campus, the Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Beppu, Oita Japan. They enthusiastically explained their valuable experience with the WC-J program to their fellow APU students.

2009 Presentation at Roskilde University, Denmark

On March 30^th at Roskilde University starting at 10:30am, there will be a presentation on the July / August ’09 World Campus – Japan programs. Berthalina, Bob, Guang and Jake had a great time meeting young people, parents, and career counselors from the greater Denver, Colorado area all looking to learn more about our international travel opportunity that broadens an understanding of Japan and other cultures from around the world that one meets in our program. In addition to video from past World Campus – Japan programs, those that stopped by our table got to look at traditional and modern Japanese products as well as try some Japanese goodies. We are looking forward to meeting some of you in one of our upcoming programs in Japan!
